SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Community Reinvestment Business Engagement Specialist will support the organization’s outreach efforts to Snohomish County’s Black, Indigenous and/or Person of Color (BIPOC) owned and other businesses who are supporting BIPOC communities. This position will focus on identifying businesses who could benefit from services such as subsidized wages, upskilling of employees or small grants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Engage in intentional outreach and the convening of BIPOC owned businesses to support the expansion and economic wellbeing of such businesses.
- Support BIPOC Businesses with navigating through Workforce Snohomish (WFS) and Public Workforce programs.
- Provide direct coaching to participants who are hired by BIPOC businesses as needed including tracking progress in positions.
- Develops consultative relationships with Snohomish County employers regarding workplace culture with a focus on equitable and inclusive workplaces.
- Develops and maintains business relationships and documents those interactions in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Develop and manage business relationships to support Disability, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals and advancement opportunities for underserved populations.
- Proactively engage businesses to assess needs, provide recommendations, and collaborate on new opportunities.
- Create and assist in developing outreach and/or educational material and resources.
- Communicates and collaborates regularly with programs teammates to understand needs, share resources, and refer job seekers to businesses.
- Crosstrain with other Business Engagement Specialists.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Strong connections with BIPOC businesses and/or communities in Snohomish County.
- Deep understanding of justice, equity and inclusion principles demonstrated through lived experience and/or applied in work experience.
- Direct experience working and/or lived experience with marginalized communities,
- Excellent business aptitude with the ability to build relationships with business partners.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present information and training to large groups of people, in-person and virtually.
- Proven project management skills
- Ability to put on in-person and virtual events
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, cloud storage, databases, social networking sites and other company technologies and software.

- Bilingual
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed sitting at a computer desk. Workdays and hours are subject to need and availability to ensure operational coverage throughout the work week. However, daily demands may require occasional early arrivals, late departures, extended hours, as well as weekend or holiday work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of experience in workforce development, DEI, relationship management, or human resources related work required.
