Youth Maritime Career Exploration a Success!
Maritime Career Exploration Event a Success!
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 Youth Maritime Career Exploration event a success!
This year’s event brought together roughly 105 students and 20 chaperones for a day of direct exposure to maritime careers, industry partners, and training opportunities. Students had the opportunity to connect with a strong group of maritime employers, industry representatives, and training providers throughout the day.
Participating schools included Kamiak High School, Snohomish High School, Lake Stevens High School, Meadowdale High School, Lynnwood High School, and Stanwood High School, along with other school partners who made student participation possible. Participating partners included Coastal Alaska Premier Seafoods, Crowley, Everett Community College, Everett Ship Repair and Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Fluid Motion, Maritime Institute, MITAGS, Port of Everett, Seafarers International Union, Seattle Maritime Academy, Sound Experience, U.S. Coast Guard Recruiting, Washington State Ferries, Western Towboat Company, Whatcom Working Waterfront Coalition, and Youth Maritime Training Association.
The event generated strong positive feedback, with partners noting the strong student engagement and eagerness to return for next year's event.
This event continues to build momentum as a student career exploration opportunity and a meaningful way to strengthen employer relationships, grow maritime sector engagement, and introduce young people to real career pathways in our region.
